SINNERS Collective is a communal art initiative exploring the creative potential of social collaboration, with all proceeds going to charity.
“The aim is to use art as a vehicle to empower people, by encouraging participation from all walks of life and abilities to get involved in creative collaboration – watching as their contribution (no matter how big or small, complex or simple) flourishes into something everybody can take pride in.”
This is not a technical workshop. This collage session really is for ALL: from aspiring artists to have-a-go-heroes. And none of that “I can’t draw” nonsense – this is about having fun and creating with other people.
The two hour session will loosely follow this structure:
– Part One: Individual pieces – this is where you get to strut your stuff, try new techniques, just create. Here we make the first foundations of our collages.
– Part Two: “Chop & Change” – We take all the fantastic pieces created in part one, we put them into the center and then we pick out a different piece to add to. We repeat this about 3 or 4 times.
The result is that the final collages have all been worked on by at least 4 or 5 different people. They are now real group art pieces.
The session is absolutely free to join, but we ask all participants to bring with them one magazine, comic book or newspaper (which everyone will share out for collage making), and also a pair of scissors and some glue (Pritt Stick, for example). At the end of the session, if you want to take one of the collages that have been created home with you, we ask for a donation of €5, all of which will go to our nominated charity (Art Refuge UK) who support displaced people from all around the world through the creation of art and art therapy.
