Can you define your company with 3 hashtags?
Do you have a project? you want to tell us something about it?
Yes we do, Irene and I founded our Startup Mindful Team last year, inspired by our experience working together at a startup called Crowdmix.
We met there after I sold my last startup Buddybounce to Crowdmix in 2016 and Irene was their first employee. Crowdmix was a fast-growing, fast-paced startup where team projects were not delivered on time, team morale was very low and KPI’s were not met.
The company went into administration in July 2016 (3 years after its creation), without releasing their main product.
We experienced first hand the scale-up challenge presented to startups. To help businesses with this challenge we created Mindful Team a platform that helps measure the health and happiness of their teams and take action to improve.
We have also recently launched The Retrospective Game, a card game for teams to reflect and take action on specific topics like Communication, Purpose, Teamwork and Projects.
Where are you from and how long have you been in Barcelona?
Irene: I’m originally from Valencia, lived in London for the last 4 years and now I’m back in Spain. I moved to Barcelona a year ago, looking for the quality of life I hugely missed when living abroad.
Emma: I’m a Londoner, living in Barcelona for 1 year so far. Enjoying the sun and trying to improve my Spanish. So please, if you see me around, speak to me in Spanish, please!
Why did you choose MOB?
Irene: We liked the space as soon as we saw it. We loved the fact that it used to be a school back in the day. It is a very spacious place with a lot of spots to hang out.
But the definite point was the fact that there are a lot of activities/events going on which makes us feel as we belong to a community. This is very important to us since we can get inspiration from other people working on different projects.
What kind of “salsa” defines your company?
Irene: I would say Guacamole. As it contains healthy avocados and the spicy touch of the lemon & coriander which makes it fun and wanting to eat MORE and MORE.
What did you want to be as a child?
Emma: A footballer playing for Man Utd.
Irene: When I was a kid you would always find me playing with some dummy papers, a fake telephone and a calculator pretending I was working for a bank. Of course, I didn’t know how dangerous were banks at the time
