Patricio, Fonmoney’s representative in Barcelona, tells us that one of the reasons for being in the city is precisely the opportunity to build bridges between these two continents.
Fonmoney is a company specializing in money transfers, connecting Europe and the Americas, with a particularly strong presence in Cuba.
The company originally started as a mobile phone top-up platform in Europe and, over time, expanded its services to become a money transfer solution. Today, one of its main challenges is remaining competitive and continuing to operate in the face of new regulations in Cuba.
For Patricio, working from MOB also has an important community aspect. As one of only one or two company representatives working from Barcelona, being part of a shared workspace helps create a greater sense of belonging and makes it easier to feel connected to a community, even when the rest of the team and the company’s operations are spread across different locations.
And, of course, there are also the more practical considerations: location and price. As Patricio jokes, we would have to ask his boss why they chose MOB before he even joined the company.
