The ‘Let’s Talk: Sustainability’ round table has given us a lot to think about. It was both interesting and insightful. We are grateful to have had guests from different fields with varying approaches, as well as active participants eager for knowledge. We have seen that ‘sustainability’ is an issue that is being addressed in various ways. It is something that we see materialized in projects, companies, changes in habits, and at the same time, it continues to be a somewhat abstract concept. Perhaps sustainability brings with it so much complexity because it questions us as a species and as individuals.

We are at a moment of great uncertainty and finding anomalies in what we knew as normality, although no one yet knows the true answer. Reflecting on this, we remember Kuhn with his theory of the scientific revolution, are we at that moment in history in which a true revolution is coming? We think so. Right now debate, new ideas, doubt, questioning, and a certain scientific insecurity reign, the famous crisis that gives way to a new order.
But we are sure of one thing: there are already many of us who want to, and are pushing towards the same goal, we want a more just and equal society, and that in order to exist it is not necessary to destroy our ecosystem. We have no doubt that we need to leave individualism behind and move to cooperation. We need science, laws, education and a true revolution to open the way to solidify a new paradigm, a new world in which sustainability is its law…

La mesa redonda de ‘Let’s Talk: Sostenibilidad’ nos ha dado mucho para pensar. Ha sido muy interesante y estamos agradecidos de haber contado con invitados de distintos ámbitos con enfoques muy diferentes, tanto como con participantes activos y ávidos de conocimiento. Hemos visto que la ‘sostenibilidad’ es una temática que se está abordando de diversas maneras. Es algo que vemos materializado en proyectos, empresas, cambios de hábitos y al mismo tiempo un concepto un tanto abstracto. Quizás, la sostenibilidad trae consigo tanta complejidad porque nos cuestiona a nosotros mismos como especie y como individuos.

Estamos en un momento de incertidumbre en todos los frentes y encontrando anomalías en lo que conocíamos como normalidad, aunque aún nadie sabe la respuesta. Por eso como reflexión, recordamos a Kuhn con su teoría de la revolución científica, ¿será que estamos en ese momento de la historia en el que se avecina una verdadera revolución? Creemos que sí. Ahora mismo reinan el debate, las nuevas ideas, la duda, el cuestionamiento y cierta inseguridad científica, la famosa crisis que da paso a un nuevo orden.
Pero de algo estamos seguros: ya somos muchos los que queremos y estamos empujando hacia el mismo lado, queremos una sociedad más justa y equitativa, y que para poder existir no sea necesario destruir nuestro ecosistema. No nos queda duda que necesitamos dejar atrás el individualismo y pasar a la cooperación. Necesitamos de ciencia, leyes, educación y una verdadera revolución para abrir camino a solidificar un nuevo paradigma, un nuevo mundo en el cual la sostenibilidad sea su ley.
