Coworking spaces have evolved far beyond their original role as places where freelancers and remote teams simply come to work.
During our participation in BEFuture, a project co-funded by the European Commission under the Single Market Programme, our co-founder Albert Tisaire shared an idea that is gaining strong momentum across the industry: coworkings are no longer just workspaces; they are living ecosystems capable of connecting local and international talent and enabling events with real community impact.
Alongside eXplorins and organizations from seven different countries we asked ourselves a simple yet powerful question: what role can spaces like MOB play in a future where mobility, creativity, and cultural diversity are part of everyday life?
Through co-creation processes, shared case studies, and participatory dynamics, we are rethinking how spaces like ours can foster meaningful encounters between locals and temporary residents, act as platforms for cultural exchange, support more circular and collaborative economic models, and enable events that are more agile, accessible, and sustainable.
MOB as an Impact Hub: More Than a Space, a Living Community
At MOB, we have long believed that the true value of a space lies not in its square meters, but in the connections that take place within it.
Coworking spaces that embrace their role as impact hubs are able to activate local economies by connecting emerging projects with new opportunities, amplify creativity through the intersection of disciplines, cultures, and perspectives, and strengthen cross-border networks that are essential in a global context where cities compete to attract talent. At the same time, they offer the flexibility and proximity required to host hybrid or small-scale events that prioritize participation and human connection.
The future of the MICE sector, and of coworkings as cultural and economic agents, depends on embracing practices that are more inclusive, circular, and deeply connected to their surroundings.
What lies ahead is exciting, and it will be built collectively.
